Bluebird Speech Therapy is a private speech therapy practice serving children and families in Maryville, TN and the greater Knoxville area. Our sessions are play-based and interactive to keep young minds engaged! We know that every child is unique, so we take the time to understand your child's interests, strengths, challenges, and goals. Through a combination of 1-on-1 therapy and parent coaching, your child will gain the communication skills they need to learn and thrive.
THERAPY & EVALUATION SERVICES
autism
We recognize that autism is a different way of processing the world. We strive to get to know your child's individual strengths, interests, and support needs to design therapy sessions that will have a positive impact on their communication. Our approach is to teach new skills through child-led play and movement activities, all while building genuine connections and honoring every form of communication - whether gestured, signed, expressed through an AAC device, or expressed verbally.
speech sounds
Speech sound challenges can make communication frustrating for both the speaker and the listener. After determining the nature of your child's speech errors, we use proven methods and strategies to help them acquire all age-appropriate speech sounds and say the words that matter most to them. Our fun, active, and motivating sessions will help your child speak clearly and be better understood by others!
language
Whether your child needs help saying their first words, understanding what they hear, or being able to participate in a conversation with others, we can meet them where they are and support their development. Our sessions are filled with movement, toys, books, games, songs, and other child-led activities to promote engagement and learning!
parent coaching
We value parent involvement as an essential part of speech and language therapy - and as such, parent coaching is a part of every therapy session regardless of the specific skills that we are targeting. Our goal is to educate and empower you as parents to confidently apply new strategies with your child at home and out in the community. When everyone is on the same page and working together, your child will develop new skills more quickly and have more opportunities to practice them within all of their daily routines and interactions!

I am a speech therapist with over 20 years of experience serving children in their homes, at school, and in the private practice setting. Throughout my career, I have seen the impact that high-quality speech therapy services can have on a family. I understand that nothing is more important than being able to connect with your child - and that is why I am so passionate about supporting you on the journey to communication. My mission is to help your child reach the goals that matter most to your family!
At Bluebird Speech Therapy, I am dedicated to focusing on each child's individual needs and including parents in the process. As a parent of neurodivergent children myself, I am always happy to connect with families who are navigating the world of autism, ADHD, and learning differences. Together, we can foster your child's speech and language development while honoring and preserving what makes them unique.

GETTING STARTED WITH BLUEBIRD SPEECH THERAPY IS EASY!
step 1
Connect with us! Call or email to schedule a free 15 minute phone consultation. You will speak directly with Nicole who will answer any questions you may have about your child's speech and language development and determine whether a screening or evaluation is recommended.
step 2
Schedule an in-person screening or evaluation. We will gather information about your child's communication development via parent interviews, observations during play, and standardized testing (when appropriate). We will then discuss therapy goals and work together to establish a plan of action.
step 3
Your child will begin therapy to work on supporting their unique communication needs. Session length and frequency will vary depending on what we determine to be the best fit for you and your child. As your child makes progress, our therapy goals will be adjusted or updated to help them continue learning and growing!

Our pediatric therapy clinic is conveniently located on the Greenway in downtown Maryville and has plentiful parking. We have a comfortable and sensory-friendly atmosphere that is steps away from a local coffee shop and the Maryville Amphitheater Park, and is part of the upcoming Greenway Village!
